Unco Luther was a close friend of the family and mentored Belsky regarding Hawaiʻi and all things Hawaiian during their relationship. Known as a "kolohe", or rascal, Unco Luther was like no other. Famous Hawaiian musician and film maker Eddie Kamae made a film about Luther's life called One Kine Hawaiian Man. Belsky and his late wife, Moanikeʻala Akaka are also in the award winning documentary. The Unco Luther design is hand printed and then framed in a hand painted brush stroke.
All Belsky's shirts are hand silk-screened using custom earth-friendly inks. All of his colorful designs, are hand painted by the artist himself. Allow for variation, the shirts are hand done, no two can be exactly alike.
